The ideal lightweight raw material for a water buffer or infiltration basin is a package of expanded clay aggregates, packed in an open or closed geotextile. The open spaces in and between the aggregate ensure a perfect drainage. Furthermore, Argex® low density aggregates can be blown by a silo truck over a distance of up to 100m. So, perfect for a quick and easy placement on sites with limited accessibility and/or drivability.

Purifying wastewater under a parking space with the Phyto parking lot. The Phyto parking lot is a natural wastewater treatment, based on the technique of aerated reed lands. One parking space (2,50 x 5,00 m) can treat the waste water of 16 people. Wherever parking space is provided, waste water can be purified under each parking spot, which makes connection to the sewerage unnecessary.

The Phyto air consists of a basin filled with expanded clay granules (Argex®) that is irrigated with wastewater. At the bottom of the basin, aeration pipes bring air into the wastewater and cause mixture in the system. At the end of the basin, the purified waste water is collected through a drain pipe that terminates in an overflow pit. The hole is sealed from the substrate by means of a strong foil.The Phyto air is ideal for medium-sized projects such as residential areas or groups of homes, business parks, hotels, nursing homes, hospitals, schools and companies. Thanks to the high purification efficiency, the Phyto air system can be scaled up to more than 1000IE.
