A roof garden provides the necessary green in places where it normally wouldn’t be possible. It also insures the thermal isolation of your house or building: thanks to the careful construction of the roof garden, the inside of the building is fresher during summer and warmer during winter. There are two main types of roof gardens: the intensive and the extensive roof garden. The intensive Argex roof garden can be compared with a classic garden, allowing the growth of planting, shrubs and even trees. The extensive Argex® roof garden is different. It is a thin substrate layer allowing the protective growth of succulents, moss and herbs. And if it may be a bit bigger: Argex® Green can also be used as a drainage layer when constructing sports fields.

With low-load-bearing soils, expensive solutions and/or construction are often required to realise low-settlement or even settlement-free solutions within a project. Intensive Roof Garden
Lightweight intensive roof gardens are best compared to “classic” gardens on the ground floor. As in most gardens, perennials and shrubs, lawns and sometimes even trees are planted here. Intensive roof gardens therefore offer the designer almost unlimited possibilities with profiling, terraces, roads, water features, etc.
Extensive Roof Garden
Lightweight extensive roof gardens are rather green areas that only allow limited planting, such as succulents, mosses and herbs. It concerns roof gardens with a limited thickness under construction.
Argex® is environmentally friendly, highly porous and it is the optimal aggregate for a perfect drainage layer under sports fields. The Argex® lightweight layer protects the structure and the water-resistant materials against extreme temperature changes, ensures an optimal habitat for green vegetation and offers a large water and air reserve for plants and grasses.
